QCINEMA'S 11TH EDITION IS ELEVATED

In its eleventh year, the QCinema International Film Festival continues its growth as a major player in the international festival scene, adding new sections and new programs that aim to elevate every Filipino festival-goer’s experience.

This year’s edition of QCinema has again some of the most acclaimed films on the festival circuit in its lineup, including festival award-winners and Oscars entries.

Opening and Closing Film

The opening film is the Golden Lion winner in this year’s prestigious Venice Film Festival - Poor Things.

Headlined by Emma Stone, this astonishing new feature by Yorgos Lanthimos is a dark sexy comedy, set in Victorian-era London, about a resurrected woman who embarks on a fantastical journey in reinventing herself.

Director Lanthimos is no stranger to QCinema where his Killing of a Sacred Deer had its Asian premiere in 2018.

Closing the festival is The Breaking Ice by Anthony Chen, Singapore’s entry to the 2024 Academy Awards.

The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section, highlighting emerging art-house directors and daring films. The Generation Z drama follows the relationships of three tourists over a snowy city.

Director Anthony Chen had also been part of our festival with his 2018 film, The Wet Season, as QCinema’s closing film that year.

“I’m not very open about this. Actually, very rarely do I talk about my scholars,” sabi ni Abunda.

Memorable para sa’kin na sinabi niya, ‘not knowing is the beginning of knowing.’ “One thing I love about Tito Boy is that he loves his mother so much.

“Happy birthday, Tito Boy!”

The public service program hosted by Abunda alongside sibling senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano revealed on Sunday, October 15, that two of today’s most in-demand young celebrities are Tito Boy’s scholars.

“I’m not very open about this. Actually, very rarely do I talk about my scholars,” said Abunda.

The former ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Otso’ housemates first met Abunda right after their reality show stint.

“Una ko pong nakilala si Tito Boy way back 2018, mga late December. Memorable para sa’kin na sinabi niya, ‘not knowing is the beginning of knowing.’ “One thing I love about Tito Boy is that he loves his mother so much.

In the same episode, Alan and Pia also surprised the co-host with the presence of Deborah Sun, an actress and a friend of Abunda.

Abunda’s actual birthday is on October 29. He has been doing the show along with the Cayetanos weekly since February 5, 2023.

The program continues the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of the sibling senators. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

She cried! I felt her!

Never siyang naging problema sa taping, commitments at shooting dahil napaka-transparent niyang kausap.

" Sobrang blesseeld parin tayo.

" Alam po naming hindi biro ang naging proseso nila dahil napakarami ng magaganda sumali this year. To be selected is an honor, may nakita siguro sila sa pelikula natin kaya napasama sa top 10. "

" Yung pinaghirapan naming obra ay magkakaroon ng pagkakataong maisalang to a wider audience.

Mabuhay!!!

' CASE 2 FACE ' SEGMENT NG ' CIA WITH BA ' ALWAYS INTERESTING ANG PINAG-UUSAPANG ISYU

Sa last episode ng CIA With BA qy dalawang lalaki na nag-away dahil sa mansanas ang  pinag-ayos ng ‘CIA with BA’ na humantong sa sinserong paghingi ng tawad at pagpapatawad.

Ayon pa kay Senator Alan Peter Cayetano...

“A wrong doesn’t correct something also that’s wrong.

“Hindi ko kinakampihan si Jhon-Jhon pero there’s more than one way to call a person na ‘magnanakaw.’

“A wrong doesn’t correct something also that’s wrong.

mapeperwisyo.”

These were Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s final words as he reflected on the

complaints he took, together with sister Senator Pia and co-host Boy Abunda, in the

recent episode of ‘CIA with BA.’

In the ‘Case 2 Face’ segment, apple vendor Jovi accused tricycle driver Jhon-Jhon of

stealing one of his apples at a terminal in Quezon City. However, to his embarrassment,

Jhon-Jhon punched and choked him until they both got into a fistfight.

“Hindi ko kinakampihan si Jhon-Jhon pero there’s more than one way to call a person

While the two had initially talked about their issue in a barangay hall near where the

incident happened, Jovi felt that Jhon-Jhon was insincere. Also, he felt threatened that

the latter might hurt him again.

But the public service program, once and for all, clarified with the two that they are both

safe from each other.

At the end of the segment, Jhon-Jhon apologized to Jovi.

“Pasensya ka na. Hayaan mo hindi na mauulit ‘yon,” he said.

‘CIA with BA’ also pledged to cover their financial losses during the week when Jovi and

Jhon-Jhon had to go back-and-forth to the barangay hall to face the complaint.

The program continues the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of sibling

senators Alan and Pia. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame
