Paliwanag niya: “Ang maternity leave law is 105 days kasi it takes into consideration na mag-aalaga ka ng baby, ‘di ba?

HAD A MISCARRIAGE? YOU CAN FILE A MATERNITY LEAVE SAYS CIA WITH BA

Had a miscarriage? You can file a maternity leave, says ‘CIA with BA’

In line with the celebration of the Women’s Month, public service program ‘CIA with BA’ gave  free legal consultation regarding some women-related laws.

Among the questions that were raised in the segment ‘Yes or No’ on Sunday, March 24, was the possibility of filing a maternity leave when someone has had a miscarriage.

Straight from Senator Pia Cayetano, the principal author and sponsor of the Republic Act No. 11210 or the  Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law, Aya got a straight ‘yes.’

“’Pag nakunan ang isang babae, covered talaga ‘yan sa maternity leave law,” Pia said.

“Ang maternity leave law is 105 days kasi it takes into consideration na mag-aalaga ka ng baby, ‘di ba? Not necessarily na ‘yung katawan mo aabutin ng 105 days mag-recover pero matagal mag-recover ang pagpapaanak, tapos nagpapasuso ka pa, nag-aalaga ka pa, kaya we extended that to 105,” she explained.

Pia noted that for miscarriages, “it’s 60 days.”

According to Sections 4 and 5 of the law, which was passed in 2018, for female workers in both public and private sectors, “maternity leave of sixty (60) days, with full pay, shall be granted for miscarriage or emergency termination of pregnancy.”

‘CIA with BA’ carries on the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of the sibling senators. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

Hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, ‘CIA with BA’ airs every Sunday, 11:00 p.m. on GMA7.

MTRCB BANS FILM OVER NINE-DASH LINE

MTRCB bans film over nine-dash line

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) announced today its decision to ban the film “Chasing Tuna in the Ocean” from domestic exhibition, citing scenes that prominently display the controversial nine-dash line.

The film has been slapped with an “X” rating, categorizing it as "Not for Public Exhibition" within the Philippines.

The decision comes after a thorough review by the MTRCB Committee on First Review, which concluded that the film's depiction of the nine-dash line symbolizes China's territorial claim over the South China Sea. Said depiction is considered an attack against the prestige of the Republic of the Philippines and is violative of Section 3 (c) of Presidential Decree No. 1986 (PD No. 1986).

"The MTRCB will continue to exercise its powers and prerogatives consistent with its mandate, and as Filipinos, we shall not tolerate any content that undermines the prestige of the Republic of the Philippines," MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto said on Thursday.

“As it stands, ‘Chasing Tuna in the Ocean’ won’t be exhibited in the Philippines. However, given that the ‘X’ rating was imposed by the Committee on First Review, under PD No. 1986, Producers are not precluded from applying before the Board a request for a Second review, provided, however, that they submit a revised material with the contentious scenes deleted to adhere to the MTRCB Charter. This serves as a reminder to producers to conform with MTRCB standards,” Sotto emphasized.

"Chasing Tuna in the Ocean" records the hardships of the fishermen fishing for tuna in the Indian Ocean, and presents the fearlessness and responsibility of the fishermen from a delicate perspective.

“I wish for her to have a good life and she doesn’t get stressed at work,” sabi ni Lucas.

Para kay Chris Cordero, na kaibigan ni Pia sa loob ng halos 50 taon, sinabi niyang: “It’s such a blessing to have a friend like you.”

“Ang wish ko sa ‘yo, to continue to hunger for the word of God, hunger to change/transform the country, hunger to help young people sa kanilang pamilya, sa sports, sa health nila. “We’re proud of you. And sana, makita mo that people do love you and do appreciate all that you’re doing.”

“I am happy to be where I am, I’m happy to be who I am. But if I were a woman, I would love to be you — the commitment, the generosity… lahat-lahat na, ‘yung kabuuan,” sabi ni Boy.

“If you know, sometimes, in my position, nasasanay ka din naman na you don’t really expect anything in return because ‘yung public service is something na, in a way, it’s a calling. And once na tinanggap mo ‘yon—which is tinanggap ko , 20 years na, ang hirap na nag-eexpect ka pa ng something kasi you’ll be disappointed. Like friends will disappoint, colleagues will disappoint. This is a lot of things, ikaw kasi ‘yung nagbibigay ng public service, so once in a while, ‘pag ikaw naman ay na-surprise nang ganito, syempre nakakatuwa,” aniya.

“In my day-to-day life, ako naman I just really strive for balance even though pinili ko ‘yung public service, I know from my training and upbringing na ‘yung daddy ko kasi very balanced ‘yun e, I can perform better if balanced din ako,” pagpapatuloy ni Ate Pia.

“So to end, I always give thanks to God and for those who want to say a prayer for me, ang hihilingin ko lang is that, let’s pray for leaders that are truly dedicated to the welfare of the Filipino people ‘coz this is the only country we have,” sabi niya.

PINAY IN ACTION : PIA CAYETQNO STILL GETS DELIGHTED BY BIRTHDAY SURPRISES

Pinay In Action:’ Pia Cayetano still gets delighted by birthday surprises

Senator Pia Cayetano was surprised by her co-hosts — brother Alan Peter and Boy Abunda — in the recent episode of public service program ‘CIA with BA’ as they celebrated her 58th birthday.

The show used the segment ‘Salamat’ as the disguise for the birthday gimmick as they showed a video tribute for Pia, video greetings from the people close to her, and a surprise appearance by Pia’s son Lucas, a childhood friend, and her staff.

“I wish for her to have a good life and she doesn’t get stressed at work,” said Lucas.

Chris Cordero, a childhood friend of Pia for almost 50 years, told her: “It’s such a blessing to have a friend like you.”

“Ang wish ko sa ‘yo, to continue to hunger for the word of God, hunger to change/transform the country, hunger to help young people sa kanilang pamilya, sa sports, sa health nila. Kasi nakita ko ‘pag nandyan ‘yung hunger sa ‘yo, nagagawa talaga,” Alan Peter  told his sister. “We’re proud of you. And sana, makita mo that people do love you and do appreciate all that you’re doing.”

Tito Boy expressed how he loves the lawmaker who is now a friend and a colleague at the same time.

“Dati humahanga lamang ako kay Ate Pia, pero ngayon mahal na mahal ko na,” he said.

“I am happy to be where I am, I’m happy to be who I am. But if I were a woman, I would love to be you — the commitment, the generosity… lahat-lahat na, ‘yung kabuuan,” Boy stated.

For her part, Ate Pia shared how she still gets delighted when she receives surprises, especially in her case as a public servant.

“If you know, sometimes, in my position, nasasanay ka din naman na you don’t really expect anything in return because ‘yung public service is something na, in a way, it’s a calling. And once na tinanggap mo ‘yon — which is tinanggap ko , 20 years na, ang hirap na nag-eexpect ka pa ng something kasi you’ll be disappointed. Like friends will disappoint, colleagues will disappoint. This is a lot of things, ikaw kasi ‘yung nagbibigay ng public service, so once in a while, ‘pag ikaw naman ay na-surprise nang ganito, syempre nakakatuwa,” she said.

“In my day-to-day life, ako naman I just really strive for balance even though pinili ko ‘yung public service, I know from my training and upbringing na ‘yung daddy ko kasi very balanced ‘yun e, I can perform better if balanced din ako,” Pia continued.

“So to end, I always give thanks to God and for those who want to say a prayer for me, ang hihilingin ko lang is that, let’s pray for leaders that are truly dedicated to the welfare of the Filipino people ‘coz this is the only country we have,” said Pia.

“So you can actually complain sa school. You don’t have to go out of the school pa.”

“One is medical. Secondly is the legal, at do’n kami magbibigay ng advice sa ‘yo, at kasama sa legal ‘yung administrative, meaning sino ba dapat ang nag-minister o nag-administer, which is the school. [And] this applies to all school around the Philippines,” sabi niya.

“But in this case nga, it’s the mechanism nung anti-bullying e. So if it happened once, and it was explained to them and they say ‘sorry,’ nagawa nung school ‘yung oblisgasyon nila. Hindi obigasyon kasi ng school to make you feel na sincere ‘yon e.”

“I think ‘pag anak, and then may nagyayari, you really want to be mad at someone e… kasi nga ‘yung puso mo, masyadong nandon sa bata. But ‘yun nga, ‘wag mo munang isipin ‘yung ugali ng parent, ‘yung ugali nung anak, etc. Isipin mo muna anak mo,” aniya. “If they’re willing to say ‘sorry’ at tatanggapin naman nung anak mo at ikagagaling naman niya ‘yon, ‘di ba? Whether talikuran mo muna o ipasa-Diyos mo kung sincere sila o hindi, kasi ibang usapan ‘yon e.”

“Then on the medical side, kung may matutulong kami, alam naming mahabang usapan ‘to, magastos, etc. But one thing we can do is to help you with the medical [needs],” pangako ng mambabatas na co-host.

“For your sake, to be the best possible mother your child needs now, rely ka talaga dito sa mga professionals and give your daughter all the love and support that she needs,” dagdag pa ni Ate Pia.

CIA WITH BA : MOTHER OF CYBERBULLIED CHILD SEEKS HELP AND ADVICE

‘CIA with BA:’ Mother of cyberbullied child seeks help, advice

“Maraming mga bata ang may mental health problems… bukas ang programa para sa mga problemang ganito,” Boy Abunda stated as the segment ‘Payong Kapatid’ concluded in the recent episode of ‘CIA with BA.’

Betty sought help and advice about her daughter who was cyberbullied by one of her classmates.

She shared that her child was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2021. This was triggered by a conversation in the class group chat containing harsh words which even led her daughter to try to end her life.

The kid was then admitted to the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), a hospital that is dedicated to delivering preventive, curative and rehabilitative mental health care services.

“So you can actually complain sa school. You don’t have to go out of the school pa.”

According to Kuya Alan, there are different aspects that need to be considered in cases like this.

“One is medical. Secondly is the legal, at do’n kami magbibigay ng advice sa ‘yo, at kasama sa legal ‘yung administrative, meaning sino ba dapat ang nag-minister o nag-administer, which is the school. [And] this applies to all school around the Philippines,” he said.

Betty also shared that she had an encounter with the mother of the student who bullied her daughter at the school’s guidance counselor’s office.Though she did not feel the sincerity, the other party apologized.

Alan however expressed that he understands where Betty is coming from, as a parent.

“I think ‘pag anak, and then may nagyayari, you really want to be mad at someone e… kasi nga ‘yung puso mo, masyadong nandon sa bata. But ‘yun nga, ‘wag mo munang isipin ‘yung ugali ng parent, ‘yung ugali nung anak, etc. Isipin mo muna anak mo,” he said. “If they’re willing to say ‘sorry’ at tatanggapin naman nung anak mo at ikagagaling naman niya ‘yon, ‘di ba? Whether talikuran mo muna o ipasa-Diyos mo kung sincere sila o hindi, kasi ibang usapan ‘yon e.”

“Then on the medical side, kung may matutulong kami, alam naming mahabang usapan ‘to, magastos, etc. But one thing we can do is to help you with the medical [needs],” the lawmaker co-host pledged.

For her part, Senator Pia Cayetano said: “Ayoko naman gamitin ‘yung salitang ‘move on.’

“For your sake, to be the best possible mother your child needs now, rely ka talaga dito sa mga professionals and give your daughter all the love and support that she needs,” Ate Pia added.

‘CIA with BA’ carries on the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of the sibling senators. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

Hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, ‘CIA with BA’ airs every Sunday, 11:00 p.m. on GMA7.

DAHIL SA CIA WITH BA IMPOSIBLENG AMA NAGING RESPONSBLE

Dahil sa ‘CIA with BA,’ ‘imposibleng’ ama, naging responsable

Parang natanggal ‘yung problema mo. Kahit pagod na pagod ka, makikita mo ‘yung mag-ama, nagbo-bonding,” she said.

Pero nung nalaman niya ‘yung totoo, truth matters na yes, anak niya ‘yon, he said he’ll take responsibility,” dagdag pa niya.

CIA WITH BA TURNS IMPOSSIBLE FATHER TO BEING RESPONSIBLE

‘CIA with BA’ turns ‘impossible’ father to being responsible

‘CIA with BA’ visited a father who had once denied being the father of his child but is now taking good care of her.

Mike had been the subject of a complaint by his ex-partner Catherine in the February 4 episode because he did not accept their child as his. He had claimed it was impossible for him to be the father of the child because Catherine delivered the baby in her eighth month.

With the help of experts, the show conducted a DNA test that revealed Mike’s 99.999999% probability of being the father of the child.

“Mali po ‘yung pag-aakala ko na wala pong nanganganak ng eight months,” Mike told ‘CIA with BA’ during the staff’s visit as shown on Sunday, March 3.

Despite his busy schedule, Mike is now able to spend time with the child — one thing he had never expected to be part of his daily life.

“Masaya kasi naaalagaan ko, nakakarga ko,” he said.

For her part, Catherine expressed her relief at their current situation.

“Ang saya-saya. Parang natanggal ‘yung problema mo. Kahit pagod na pagod ka, makikita mo ‘yung mag-ama, nagbo-bonding,” she said. “Kung pwede lang sana araw-araw ganon.”

Apart from the groceries and other assistance that ‘CIA with BA’ pledged, Mike requested for a new pedicab for Catherine.

“Para kung gusto man niya bumiyahe ulit, wala siyang aalalahanin na boundary,” he said.

“Alam niyo po, kay Cathy at kay Mike, marami talagang nagalit kay Mike,” Senator Alan Cayetano shared while concluding the episode.

“Medyo hindi maganda intensyon niya kay Cathy. Pero nung nalaman niya ‘yung totoo, truth matters na yes, anak niya ‘yon, he said he’ll take responsibility,” he added.

The program carries on the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of the sibling senators. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

‘CIA with BA’ hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy airs every Sunday, 11:00 p.m. on GMA7.
