Aling Nora took to the public service program ‘CIA with BA’ to ask for help regarding her
cash insurance that she could not claim from the insurance company.
In the “Payong Kapatid” segment of the September 17 episode, the senior citizen
sought advice from Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano and TV host Boy Abunda.
According to Aling Nora, the money she invested with Loyola Consolidated Plans were
her savings from working as an overseas Filipino worker in Singapore from 2012 to
2016.
In 2019, she decided to withdraw her fund. However, the representatives from the
insurance company only told her to keep on following up for her claim.
“Meron pa nga pong nakalagay do’n sa papel ko na makukuha ko na [by] January 19,
2019,” she shared. “Nung pumunta ako, ang sabi nila wala pang pera ang Loyola.”
“E pinaghirapan ko po ‘yon, magkano lang ang sahod namin sa Singapore that time.
Dapat po ‘yung panghulog ko sa Loyola na ‘yan, dapat ipanghuhulog ko sa NHA
(National Housing Authority) para magkaroon ako ng lote,” Aling Nora said.
Senator Alan said based on the law, “pag within 15 days at hindi ibinigay ‘yung claim mo
at tama [naman] ‘yung claim mo, pwede ka nang pumunta sa Insurance Commission
(IC). Hindi lang ‘yung claim, pati ‘yung danyos ay pwede mo nang i-claim ‘yon.”
“What we’re going to do is our lawyers are going to accompany you. We’re going to ask,
not only for you pero pati dun sa mga iba na naipit nga dito sa Loyola… I will make sure
na mapanood ng Insurance Commission itong testimony mo kasi kung hindi lang ito
sa’yo nangyayari, hindi ‘yan talaga ‘yung intent nung mga reforms na ginawa,” he said.
At the end of the segment, ‘CIA with BA’ reported that according to IC, the insurance
company mentioned is under receivership proceedings due to financial deficiencies. For
planholders’ protection, IC issued a stay order wherein payments to claims are
suspended until there are enough assets converted to cash and ready for distribution.
IC, meanwhile, assured that Aling Nora’s name is on the list of their schedule for
planholders’ benefit payable.
“I’m grateful na may opportunity tayo to do public service because beyond the legal
advice, meron tayong mga after-the-show support na mabibigay,” Senator Pia said as
the episode ended.
'CIA with BA' continues the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the late father of sibling
senators Alan and Pia. The senior Cayetano was a renowned lawyer who gained fame
through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to
2001.
Don’t miss ‘CIA with BA’ with Alan, Pia and Boy every Sunday, 11:30 p.m. on GMA7
