NO AMICABLE SETTLEMENT ALLOWED FOR VAWC ASSERTS CIA WITH BA

No amicable settlement allowed for VAWC, asserts 'CIA with BA’

Public service program 'CIA with BA' reiterated the grave nature of violence against women and children (VAWC), emphasizing that it should never be overlooked or treated lightly.

During the 'Yes or No' segment of the episode aired on Sunday, May 5, Aya of the Mariteam posed the question: “Maaari po bang i-areglo ang VAWC sa barangay o sa korte?"

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano promptly responded with a firm "no."

“Maraming dahilan,” he explained. “Ang isang dahilan nga, aside from it’s a crime, is that alam natin na if you sweep that under the rug, tuluy-tuloy lang na mangyayari ito.”

Senator Pia Cayetano cited disputes between spouses as an example to illustrate the common misconception surrounding the matter.

“Dati kasi, at nangyayari pa rin ngayon, ang pangkaraniwan na reaksyon ng kahit barangay man ‘yon or sabihin na nating leader ng community, ‘ah, away mag-asawa lang ‘yan,’” she said. “[Pero] sinabi ng batas… na ‘pag may alam kayong ganyan, kailangan niyong tulungan ‘yung babae—ilayo niyo—o ‘yung anak o kung sino man [because] it affects the community, it affects the human life.”

'CIA with BA' upholds the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the esteemed father of the sibling senator-hosts. A distinguished lawyer, the senior Cayetano gained prominence through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

“Anumang ‘di pagkakaunawaan, anumang katanungan, anumang bagay na nangangailangan ng kalinawan… makakaasa kayong patuloy nating aaksyunan dahil para sa amin nina Kuya Alan at Ate Pia, gabay natin ang batas para itama ang mga mali at tulungan ang mga naaapi,” emphasized Boy Abunda, addressing the viewers.

“At sa patuloy nating pag-aksyon, makakaasa kayong bukal sa aming puso ang pagtulong,” he stressed.

'CIA with BA,' hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
