CIA with BA: Public warned against fraudulent annulment services on social media

In a recent segment of 'CIA with BA,' Senator Alan Peter Cayetano addressed concerns about fraudulent activities on social media platforms, particularly regarding the offering of annulment services without adhering to legal processes.

During the show’s 'Yes or No' portion, a question arose regarding individuals advertising annulment of marriage services that bypass the court system. Richard from the Mariteam brought up the issue.

“May nakita po akong ad or post, nakalagay doon, ‘annulment of marriage na hindi dadaan sa korte,’ sila mag-aasikaso at saka no appearance, legal po ba ‘yon?” he asked.

“No. Absolutely, not,” Kuya Alan unequivocally responded. “Kumukulo nga dugo ni Ate Pia do’n kasi blatant na panloloko.”

“The authorities really have to do something about that so ‘yon ang sabi ni Ate, ‘Let’s make sure that something’s done about ‘yung mga illegal [na blatantly] nandiyan sa social media,” he emphasized.

To combat these fraudulent practices and protect individuals from harm, several steps can be taken:

Report to Authorities: Victims or witnesses should report such fraudulent activities to relevant authorities such as the Philippine National Police (PNP) or the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Seek Legal Guidance: Individuals affected by fraudulent annulment services should seek legal advice to understand their rights and explore avenues for legal action against the perpetrators.

Raise Awareness: It's essential to educate the public about the risks associated with fraudulent services on social media. Spreading awareness can help prevent others from falling victim to similar scams.

Offer Support: Those who have been victimized by fraudulent annulment services may require emotional and legal support. Offering assistance and guidance can help them navigate through the aftermath of such deception.

By taking these proactive measures, individuals and authorities can work together to combat fraudulent activities and protect the public from harm.

‘CIA with BA’ continues the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the esteemed father of the sibling senator-hosts. A distinguished lawyer, the senior Cayetano gained prominence through his radio and TV program 'CompaƱero y CompaƱera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

Hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy Abunda, ‘CIA with BA’ airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
