Boy Abunda lauds Alan Peter, Pia Cayetano for sharing legislative insights on ‘CIA with BA’

Boy Abunda expressed his admiration for his co-hosts, Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano, particularly in their efforts to shed light on the intricacies of the legislative process.

In the episode of the public service program ‘CIA with BA’ on Sunday, October 13, the award-winning host acknowledged the significance of sibling senators’ firsthand experiences and knowledge which enrich the discussions on the show.

“Natutuwa ako ‘pag sinasabi ni Ate Pia, ‘Batas ko ‘yan,’” Abunda remarked, highlighting how it helps viewers understand what senators do beyond the highly visible Senate investigations. He noted that their approach to explaining legislation, even down to seemingly minor issues such as cases involving dog bites, demonstrates their sensitivity to the daily lives of Filipinos.

“Pero pag sinasabi nina Kuya Alan, Ate Pia, ‘Alam niyo nung inaaral namin ang batas na ‘yan, pagkagat lamang ng aso,’” Abunda continued, emphasizing that while the matter may seem minor to some, the lawmakers' attention to detail reflects their deep commitment to public service.

He added, “I’m always delighted ‘pag sinasabi niyo na, ‘Ito ‘yung pinagdaanan namin, ito ‘yung naging debate namin nung ginagawa namin ang batas na ito,’” acknowledging how sharing their experiences in crafting laws adds a valuable dimension to the show’s discussions.

Reflecting on one of the cases tackled in the episode, Abunda appreciated Alan's reminder about the importance of addressing small problems early to prevent them from escalating into bigger issues.

In response to Alan's reflection, Abunda shared his own insight: "Ito natutunan ko sa mga pinapanood kong palabas [na] merong mga bagay na hindi tayo komportableng gawin, may mga bagay na hindi tayo komportableng sabihin. Sabi nila, ‘Do the opposite action.’ Labag man sa pride mo kasi ‘yon ang nangingibabaw, do it. Because when you do something that is difficult pero ‘yung dulo no’n ay katahimikan, [do it]."
