ALAN, PIA, BOY REFLECT ON FAMILY LAND DISPUTE IN CIA WITH BA

Alan, Pia, Boy reflect on family land dispute in ‘CIA with BA’

“Sometimes, just like life, it’s complicated.”

These words from Senator Pia Cayetano set the tone as she, along with ‘CIA with BA’ co-hosts Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Boy Abunda, tackled a complex case involving family members and their land.

In the ‘Case 2 Face’ segment of the May 26 episode, Estela complained about her sister-in-law, Evelyn, for claiming possession of part of the land Estela believes she owns. According to Estela, the entire property was given to her by her late aunt. Meanwhile, her late brother Geronimo had purchased a 50-square-meter portion, which Evelyn now claims. This part of the land had been pawned by Geronimo to a certain Rajo, redeemed by Luisito (brother of Estela’s wife), and eventually sold to Estela due to financial constraints.

“Mabigat. Kasi talagang pasa-pasa ‘yung ownership nung lupa and then [may] denial..” said Pia, reflecting on the situation.

“But you can lessen the complication by documenting, ‘di ba? That’s one reminder we always give. And clarifying the objectives, especially among family,” she noted.

As the discussion progressed, it became clear that there was a lack of documentation throughout the process, which the program pledged to help rectify.

“Kailangan talaga matuto tayong mag-agree to disagree… Hindi mawawala ‘yung stress e, hindi mawawala ‘yung [feeling na] parang anxious ka, hindi mawawala ‘yung [thought na] ‘sana ma-solve na ‘to ulit.’ Pero nadadagdagan kasi kung ‘yung away, manganganak.,” commented Alan as they concluded the episode.

For his part, Tito Boy remarked: “Hindi maluluma ‘yung konsepto na, ‘Let’s build relationships.’ Ang daming maiiwasan na gulo kung merong mga relasyon. Importante kasi na napapaalalahanan tayo kung saan tayo nanggaling, ano ang ating kwento. Because if we’re able to celebrate our story, ‘yung ating present, ‘yung ating now, ay--hindi ko man masasabi na lahat ng ating problema ay maso-solve pero—mas klaro ang perspektibo, ang point of view, dahil alam mo ang iyong pinanggagalingan.”

The episode underscored the importance of proper documentation and clear communication in resolving family disputes, emphasizing the value of relationships and mutual understanding.

'CIA with BA' upholds the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the esteemed father of the sibling senator-hosts. A distinguished lawyer, the senior Cayetano gained prominence through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

'CIA with BA,' hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
